Amityville II: The Possession

Amityville II: The Possession doesn’t seem to have much to do with the first Amityville Horror. A new family moves into the Amityville house and immediately things are getting strange.  The idea is the house is possessed by a demon. In the first movie and the allegied true story it was based on, the father of the home gets possessed and kills the enitre family. In this movie, it’s the son.
The performances were good. Burt Young plays the father. You may remember him as Uncle Paulie from the Rocky movies. He is plyaing the same kind of character here. But it works pretty well. The rest of the actors do a competent job.
The special effects were fairly well done. They don’t  take you out of the movie like a lot of the CGI effects do these days. There are a lot of genuinely creepy moments to the movie.  It is one of the better haunted house movies I’ve seen in a while mostly due to special effects.
The story is pretty much like the first one plus elements lifted from The Exorists and an incest sub plot. The story is what it needs to be to be a continuation of the first Amityville movie. It’s nothing ground breaking but it’s enjoyable for a free movie on You Tube. There is a really bizarre incest subplot that stands out in the minds of most people who see this movie.
I’d say check this one out if your in the mood for a decent little horror movie you can watch for free on You Tube. It’s a gem amongst some of the other less than impressive movies they are offering over there. Chances are you haven’t seen this one but it’s worth watching if you feel like watching a horror movie.
